A graphic designer works with clients to develop print and electronic media. Conceptualize an idea within the specifications of the client and organization's needs. You will bring to life designs by either manually drawing them or working with specialized computer software to prepare layouts using computer techniques by selecting color, sound, artwork and much more. Communicate ideas using creative media such as photography, animation, and layout techniques to convey a message or advertisement by developing themes and websites.
You will need a minimum of an associate's degree in graphic design to enter this field. It will take two to three years at a professional or post-secondary educational institute to gain the necessary education required to become a graphic designer. Curriculum typically includes principle of design, computerized design, website design, graphics design, and layout techniques.
This is great field if you are creative and can communicate effectively with staff and clients. Many individuals have the opportunity to work from home as well as for an organization.
